What people are saying:

Hello! I’ve even heard of you over here in Oxford, England…I used to live in Winnipeg, and my friend Pamela sent me your ‘100 real reasons to love Winnipeg’. I like all these reasons, but relate particularly to your reasons 51 and 52, because I’m Scottish and definitely think you can be generous and parsimonious all in one – that’s what the whole Scottish nation is like! Thank you for your list – it has made my day, because I too love Winnipeg. - Marjory Szurko, Librarian, Oriel College, Oxford

It Came from the Vault
The Party
Peter Sellers (1968, Free)

The Party

Hrundi V. Bakshi (Peter Sellers) is a seemingly nameless and faceless actor from India brought to Hollywood for a role in a film similar to Gunga Din. Unfortunately, he manages to blow up the set before the cameras are rolling, ruining the entire film. The director is beside himself, fires Bakshi immediately and wants him blacklisted. However, instead of being blacklisted, Bakshi's name is accidentally written on the guest list of the studio boss's party.

Thursday November 24/05 7:30 Ellice Theatre

Naked Prey (1966)

Naked Prey

Naked Prey was the second film in the special series at the Ellice Theatre, Aqua Books Presents It Came From The Vault. The film's director, former olympic fencer Cornel Wilde, stars as The Man, the last surviving member of an ill-fated African hunting party. The Man is sentenced by a ruthless tribal leader to be hunted down by a party of tribal men. Naked and weaponless he is set loose, the hunters hot on his heels, beginning a life-or-death hunt through wild Africa. This is a breathless, psychological thriller about survival and instinct.

Aqua Books Presents It Came From The Vault was a film series showcasing forgotten gems. All films were shown at the Ellice Theatre (at Sherbrook) free of charge.

Thursday October 27/05 7:30 Ellice Theatre
